The general TU/e Travel Insurance, the AIG Travel Guard, is connected to the registration for the international experience (outgoing mobility) in Mobility Online and/or the scholarship for your internship/exchange abroad. The student is insured for the period as registered in the Mobility Online system or at the application form, with a maximum of 12 months. The travel insurance is not valid during vacation or travelling after the end date as mentioned in Mobility Online. For this private period you need a personal travel insurance.
Insurance is only relevant for exchange/internship or other academic mobilities up to a maximum duration of 12 months. The travel insurance offers extensive cover. Claims by 3rd parties are not covered within this agreement. Cancellations are not covered within this insurance. Full information is available within the policy conditions. The relevant claim form should be completed and submitted for any damage/loss incurred during the international experience. The insurance company has an app available for download via the App Store or Google Play Store. Search using “AIG Travel Assistance” and you will be requested to enter policy number 60187816 to access. Information regarding use of the app is available in the column on the right as well

Health Insurance
The AIG Travel Insurance is NOT a health insurance.
A health insurance is a mandatory insurance in the Netherlands. Via the mandatory health insurance (with (standard) European or (optional) world coverage) the student already has coverage for medical costs.
Medical costs made outside EU (form example in USA, Switzerland and Japan) are often higher than the Dutch health insurance reimburses. In that case, students can contact the travel insurance for the coverage of the extra made costs on top of the reimbursement of their own health insurance.
For international students at TU/e insured via Aon: please contact Aon before your exchange or internship abroad so they can give you advise concerning your Aon health and travel insurance.
