SFC02 - Tackling procrastination

Course content

Our 6-week Keep the focus and ACT on your studies training has been specifically designed for students looking to enhance their study behavior. This training provides practical tools and insights to effectively address challenges such as procrastination, perfectionism, fear of failure, uncertainty, and performance pressure.

In this training, you'll not only learn to overcome obstacles but also to embrace them as natural parts of the study process. Utilizing the proven principles of ACT, you'll develop resilience and discover how to focus on what truly matters to you.

The training is built upon the six principles of ACT:

  1. Cognitive defusion: Create distance from unhelpful thoughts. This principle helps you to manage academic stress by not letting negative thoughts about performance hinder your focus and confidence.

  2. Acceptance: Learn to embrace your emotions without judgment. This means accepting the challenges of university life, acknowledging stress, and learning to navigate it constructively.

  3. Present moment awareness: Stay mindful and focused on the current moment. This principle aids you in being present during lectures, studying effectively, and avoiding distractions that can hinder academic performance.

  4. Self-as-context: Develop a flexible sense of self. Learn how to see setbacks as temporary and to improve your resilience in facing academic challenges.

  5. Values: Clarify your personal values for decision-making. This helps you to align your study behavior with your deeper values, making choices that lead to a more meaningful university experience.

  6. Committed action: Take purposeful, values-driven actions. You learn to apply this by setting clear academic goals aligned with your values. Next to that you learn to persist in your studies even when you face obstacles.
